Municipal

We have extensive experience of surveying and project managing asbestos remediation in municipal properties in London, including Grade II-listed Poplar Baths for the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. Key issues on that project included working around heritage features and working with occupied premises.

A series of management surveys of libraries and museums for Hounslow Borough Council involved surveying six libraries and Gunnersbury Park Museum, which was carried out to support and maintain the Council’s municipal asbestos management plan.

Our asbestos survey team was vetted before receiving access passes. The buildings needed to remain fully occupied throughout.  This required us to work with a degree of discretion while minimising disruption to the occupants.  We liaised closely with all the Premises Managers to plan our survey schedule and set up restricted access areas to allow us to take samples.

During the survey of the Museum we identified extensive asbestos contamination of artefacts. We sealed the area off and arranged for an emergency environmental clean followed by air testing and a certificate of re-occupation before visitors were allowed to return.
