We have extensive experience of surveying and project managing asbestos remediation in municipal properties in London, including Grade II-listed Poplar Baths for the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. Key issues on that project included working around heritage features and working with occupied premises.

We conducted a series of management surveys of six libraries and the Gunnersbury Park Museum for Hounslow Borough Council to support their municipal asbestos management plan.

Before starting, our asbestos survey team was vetted and issued access passes. Since the buildings needed to remain fully occupied, we worked discreetly to minimise disruption to the occupants. We closely coordinated with all Premises Managers to plan our survey schedule and set up restricted access areas for sample collection.

During the Museum survey, we discovered extensive asbestos contamination of artefacts. We immediately sealed off the area and arranged for an emergency environmental clean. Following air testing and receiving a certificate of re-occupation, visitors were allowed to return.
