Partnering with RICS

Following the enthusiastic reception for our CPD seminar ‘How to Save a Small Fortune on Asbestos Management’ over the last 18 months, the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) approached Global Environmental to request an event for RICS members.

The presentation took the form of an hour-long seminar, held at the Montcalm Hotel, Shoreditch in the City of London in November. Run in partnership with licenced asbestos removals contractor, Clifford Devlin, the presentation has been designed specifically for surveyors and cost consultants with a view to minimising the amount of money spent on managing asbestos without compromising the safety of those involved. It looks at 10 areas where costs can be reduced which include ways to share information, limiting damage caused during asbestos works, minimising survey exclusions and how to claim additional tax relief.

Enthusiastically received by representatives from organisations such as Savills, Keegans, Aecom, Arcadia and Cushman & Wakefield, feedback suggested that the information was of interest and discussions continued after the seminar in the hotel bar where complimentary food and drink was served.

This seminar has already been presented to over 20 individual commercial property agents in London and the South East and has resulted in projects including two pilot studies, project management of a large removal scheme and several surveys of commercial buildings and schools.

A similar joint event with RICS is being planned for next year.
