The effectiveness of asbestos regulations

The Health and Safety Executive has released it’s second review of the current regulations on asbestos, the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012. They conclude that they are achieving their intended objectives.

The report says:

  • the regulations are achieving their intended objectives and the objectives remain valid
  • the intervention by regulation is still required
  • regulation remains the most effective way to control the risks of asbestos
  • there is no need to amend the regulations
