The legal duties

Those responsible for a building’s maintenance and repair have a legal duty to manage the asbestos within it, and protect the building’s users from exposure.  The legal requirements are defined by the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012.

Asbestos Surveys

We offer two types of survey:

  • Management Surveys pinpoint the location and extent of asbestos-containing materials. This information is essential for creating an effective asbestos management plan, which includes an asbestos register for safety and compliance
  • Pre-Demolition/Refurbishment surveys are completed before work commences which might release asbestos.  They include a comprehensive programme of sampling, which may involve destructive inspection where necessary.

We are able to complete asbestos surveys rapidly, giving a summary of results within 48 hours.  We liaise with all parties concerned in a quick and effective manner.

  • Asbestos consultancy: guidance on compliance with regulations and advice on facilitating construction projects
  • Management plans: defining the procedures for identifying, managing, and controlling asbestos-containing materials

About Global Environmental

We work on all types of building with companies and organisations throughout the South East, from our offices in Sawbridgeworth on the Hertfordshire/Essex border.

Our management team shares over 60 years’ experience of asbestos consultancy.  They are supported by our field operations team of project managers and lead surveyors. All our lead surveyors have successfully completed the British Occupational Hygiene Society (BOHS) P402 module, which covers Building Surveys and Bulk Sampling for Asbestos.  They always carry out surveys in accordance with our in-house quality procedures.
